Two men were killed when the military junta bombed a location in Bawlakhe Township, Karenni State, from the air at around 3 p.m. yesterday, September 24, a resident told Kantarawaddy Times.
“They came and bombed sometime between 3 and 3:30. When they bombed, two men lost their lives. One was around 62 or 63 years old, and the other was around 30. The son of the man in his 30s who was killed was also hit, and he is seriously injured,” the resident said.
A man aged around 63 and a man aged around 30 were killed in the attack. The younger man’s 4-year-old son and a woman were also injured, according to the resident. Several homes were hit and damaged, he added.
“They bombed two places. First they bombed the northern side, and a house was damaged there. Then on the second run, it was the southern side. Three houses were damaged there,” the resident said.
After the air strike, the junta also fired heavy artillery at the area. Shell fragments struck a 27-year-old woman in the thigh and a 32-year-old man in the face.
Residents say they are frightened and anxious after the junta’s air strike and artillery fire killed two men and injured four people, including a young child.
In September, junta air strikes on Bawlakhe, Hso Mo Pray Soe Lay (Shardaw) and Pasaung Townships in Karenni State have killed 12 civilians, including children.
