Residents living in displaced camps in Hpruso are getting skin rashes and cases of diarrhoea have recently emerged in children under five in the township in Karenni State.
A health worker, who wishes to remain anonymous, said there isn’t enough water to bathe in or drink during the dry season. People rely on streams and rain to collect water, but it’s too little or contaminated.
People camping in Hkaw Thamaw, Htee Theku and Lor Palar Lae villages in the eastern township are getting sick.
“They should seek treatment from a doctor. It is a skin disease that can easily spread to other people,” she said. The problem is that for most camps there is no hospital or clinic within reach.
