On August 4th, around 6 PM, the military junta’s forces launched a drone attack, dropping bombs on a village in the western part of Hpruso Township, Karenni State. According to residents, five civilians, including a five-month-old infant, were killed in the attack.
“They dropped bombs from a drone — two big bombs landed and hit some villagers,” a local resident said.
According to residents, the junta’s two drone bombs killed three men on the spot, with two more later dying from their injuries while receiving medical treatment. Among the dead were a five-month-old baby girl, a 48-year-old woman, a 65-year-old man, and two men whose ages have not yet been confirmed. Others were also wounded and are receiving medical treatment.
On the afternoon of August 3, junta troops had also dropped a drone bomb on a location in eastern Hpruso Township, wounding a 40-year-old woman. A local resident said people in Hpruso Township are living in fear given the rising number of deaths and injuries from junta drone bombings in recent days.
The Demawso–Hpruso–Bawlakale road remains under junta control, and troops there frequently fire drones and artillery toward areas where residents and displaced people are sheltering, causing ongoing casualties.
