In eastern Hpruso Township, Karenni State, a displaced woman was injured by artillery shrapnel while returning from a farm on the evening of June 30 due to shelling by junta forces.
The junta fired three artillery rounds and also carried out two drone bombing attacks. As a result of the shelling, a 19-year-old woman was struck in the arm by shrapnel.
“She was returning from the farm in the evening when the artillery landed. She was hit by some shrapnel,” said a local resident.
Residents and displaced people said they are increasingly worried about their safety because junta forces conduct daily drone surveillance, bombing attacks, and artillery shelling even while people are working on hill farms to earn a living.
Drone attacks by junta forces have become more frequent in Hpruso Township in June 2026.
