On April 20th, at 11:52 AM, the military junta conducted an airstrike on Kon Thar village in Loikaw Township. According to local sources, six civilians, including a child under the age of five, were killed instantly.

“The bomb directly hit a house where they were living. It wasn’t two separate bombings; two bombs were dropped at once,” recounted a resident.

The victims include a man in his 80s, a woman in her 60s, two women aged 27 and 47, a six-year-old boy, and a two-year-old girl. They were all members of the same family residing in the targeted house.

Additionally, ten other civilians sustained injuries, and approximately 20 houses were destroyed in the attack.

While clashes were reported at Light Infantry Battalion 422 military base in Mobye, there was no fighting near Kon Thar village, according to a local resident.

“Residents in the village have been returning home. The fighting occurred at Light Infantry Battalion 422, but in Kon Thar, people have returned to their homes. There haven’t been any other significant clashes except for the one at 422,” the resident explained.

This incident follows another airstrike on April 11th in the western part of Pekhon Township. The military targeted an area with no ongoing conflict, killing three individuals, including a three-year-old child, and injuring five others.
