The military junta carried out an airstrike on an IDP camp in the eastern part of Loikaw Township, Karenni State, injuring three civilians, an official from the Loikaw Township administration of the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC) said.

Two air attacks took place shortly after midnight today, October 23, the official said.

“According to records of the airstrike, a 26-year-old man sustained a thigh injury, a 44-year-old woman suffered a head injury, and a 21-year-old woman was wounded in the back. None of the injuries are life-threatening,” a male official from the Loikaw Township administration said.

Besides the three injured IDPs, one house, cash and a motorcycle were also destroyed, he said.

Since September, the junta has stepped up attacks in eastern Loikaw Township, using airstrikes and bombings as well as suicide drones, forcing IDPs to move again, according to information received.
