IDPS who fled to southern Shan State are suffering from skin infections, according to the Mobye Rescue Team, which has been providing medical treatment in the area.
The team reported that they provided healthcare to around 250 displaced people and discovered that several of them were affected by skin diseases. Those suffering from skin infections were given a one-week supply of medicine, a representative from the Mobye Rescue Team told Kantarawaddy Times.
“There are many cases of skin disease. Some people have rashes all over their bodies. We’ve given them medicine for a week, so hopefully their condition will improve somewhat,” said the team’s representative.
The affected displaced persons are residents of Baw Yar, Taung Sa Lone, and Myauk Sa Lone villages, who fled their homes following a military offensive carried out by the Military Council troops in coordination with the Pa-O militia forces.
According to the report, the majority of those suffering from skin diseases are children between the ages of five and ten, as well as adults aged twenty-eight to thirty-five, totaling approximately forty people were affected.
A representative from the Mobye Rescue Team expressed concern that the increasing number of displaced persons could lead to the further spread of skin infections.
Residents from Baw Yar and nearby villages fled their homes after joint forces of the Military Council and the Pa-O National Organization (PNO) launched attacks and set fire to houses in the area starting on October 13, forcing civilians to seek safety elsewhere.
