The Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) has revealed discussions with US Foreign Policy Advisor Derek Chollet regarding humanitarian aid, according to the party’s Secretary 1, U Aung San Myint.

“We essentially provided updates and discussed our current political and military situation, as well as the conditions faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs),” explained U Aung San Myint.

The meeting, held on March 28th, involved representatives from the K3C group, which includes the Karen National Union (KNU), Kachin Independence Army (KIA), KNPP, and Chin National Front (CNF), along with officials from the National Unity Government (NUG).

“As of now, we haven’t reached any concrete agreements. We simply provided updates and expressed our intention to continue collaborating on matters related to humanitarian assistance. We have already made our stance on humanitarian aid in public. The focus is on taking action in this area” U Aung San Myint clarified.

Derek Chollet also mentioned the meeting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that they discussed ways for the international community to increase aid to those in need and steps towards a better future for the people of Myanmar.

On January 31, 2024, the CNF, KNPP, KNU, KIA, and NUG released a joint statement outlining their shared vision for ending military dictatorship and establishing a federal democratic union in Myanmar.
