Junta soldiers killed a man and injured a teenager after opening fire on a group of quarrelling youths at Loikaw railway station in Karenni State.

Ahnge Due, 33, was killed by Burma Army soldiers last Friday afternoon while tending to his cattle. He had nothing to do with the youths. Maung Sai Aung Myo Lwin, 16, who was part of the group, was shot in his leg in the incident.

“I think about 20 youths were fighting and someone reported it to the army. When they arrived, they shot at them and killed a bystander,” a volunteer who helped take the deceased to the mortuary and the injured youth to hospital told the Kantarawaddy Times.

Another anonymous source said the soldiers arrived in four vehicles and arrested six people after the shooting, but he could not identify them.
