Three civilians, including one woman, were killed in separate junta attacks across Karenni State in mid-July, according to information gathered by Kantarawaddy Times.
Details of the incidents: On July 14, Loikaw Township: Junta aircraft carried out airstrikes on three locations in eastern Loikaw, killing a woman around 50 years old. On July 15, junta forces used a drone to attack travelers on a road in Hpruso Township, killing one man. On July 16, a junta aircraft dropped bombs on a location in Hpasaung Township, killing a 20-year-old man.
The three victims were two men and one woman who died in attacks in Hpruso, Hpasaung, and Loikaw townships. Besides the deaths, the attacks also caused property damage and injuries.
A frontline displacement-response worker said civilian deaths from junta attacks have become a monthly occurrence, while aid efforts face growing challenges.
“Things are likely to keep getting harder both for displaced communities and for those helping them. As it gets more difficult, there are times when people end up traveling even when it’s not safe, because they have no other choice. And since the junta is attacking everywhere regardless of location, civilian casualties are rising,” the worker explained.
Residents reported that July also saw new waves of displacement as the junta continued frequent airstrikes, artillery fire, and drone and bomb attacks across Karenni State.
