Residents in Pruso Township are increasingly concerned as military junta forces have been carrying out frequent drone attacks targeting civilian-populated areas.

According to local residents, at around 10:00 a.m. on January 18, junta forces dropped two drone bombs and fired one artillery shell into a village in Pruso Township, Karenni State. One house was damaged in the attack, while one of the drone bombs failed to detonate.

“They fired one artillery shell and dropped two drone bombs. One of the bombs did not explode and landed very close to a civilian residential area. If it had detonated, the consequences would have been severe,” a local eyewitness said.

Although there has been no active fighting in Pruso, residents report that the junta continues to use drones, repeatedly conducting drone bombings in civilian residential areas. These attacks have caused property damage and raised serious concerns among civilians over potential deaths and injuries, locals said.

“There were no civilian casualties, but houses were damaged. Just last week, two drone bombs were dropped on an onion farm. Since people are growing winter crops, these drone attacks have caused serious concern,” a local resident explained.

Additionally, on January 11, during the junta’s second phase of its election process, a drone bomb attack in Pruso Township set fire to and destroyed a residential house and a rice barn, according to local sources.
