In Karenni State, a total of 10 civilians were killed within one year due to drone bomb attacks carried out by the military junta, according to records released by the Karenni Human Rights Group (KnHRG).
Among the 10 people killed by drone bombings were one child, six men, two women, and one person whose gender could not be identified. In addition, a total of 32 people were injured, including seven children, 10 men, nine women, and six people of unidentified gender, KnHRG reported.
The statement also noted that drone bomb attacks were carried out on 21 occasions over the one-year period. The junta forces have been launching various forms of attacks on areas where civilians are present, including not only drone strikes but also heavy artillery and air attacks.
As a result of these multiple forms of military attacks, civilian casualties have continued to rise, according to a local male resident of Karenni State, who shared his experience:
“Previously, when fighting occurred, we mostly witnessed ground troop operations, and our main concern was the situation on the ground. However, things are different now. Technology advancements have increased the frequency of attacks, particularly those from above, making it much more difficult for civilians to avoid them. Damage and casualties are therefore continuously rising” a local male resident said.
In addition to civilian deaths and injuries caused by drone attacks, KnHRG reported damage to seven houses, two religious buildings, one public building, 10 cars and motorcycles, three farmlands, and two livestock.
According to KnHRG, the junta has intensified its drone attacks since June 2025. These attacks have increasingly targeted agricultural areas that civilians rely on for their livelihoods, aiming to prevent farming activities and disrupt crop harvesting.
