The Tapu Htoe village in Hsihseng Township, southern Shan State, has once again been set on fire by the military junta’s troops in collaboration with the Pa-O National Organization(PNO), according to Khun Reinyan, spokesperson of the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA).
“Tapu Htoe village was already burned down before. It was not just once but at least three or four times. Even now, they are still setting fire to some of the remaining houses,” said Khun Reinyan.
The fire began on August 18, but the exact number of houses destroyed has not yet been confirmed. Back in July, six houses in Tapu Htoe were also burned down by the military junta and PNO joint forces.
In addition to the burnings, the joint forces have been driving villagers out of their homes and looting household belongings in Hsihseng Township, Khun Reinyan added.
Apart from Tapu Htoe, the PNLA has announced that over 100 homes were burned down in villages, including Naung Htaw Ywar Thit, Naung Htaw Kalar Lan, Naung Htaw Kayan quarter, and Naung Bo in Hsihseng Township, following over ten days of arson attacks that started on August 9, 2025.
Tapu Htoe village, which belongs to the Naung Kyaw village tract in Hsihseng Township, has around 200 houses.
