The residents of the Shisolo internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Hpruso Township have not received food for three months.
“So far no one has come to provide us with food,” said an anonymous resident. The camp management sends a population list to donor groups every month. Although the camp committee receives a little pocket money every month, there have been no food deliveries for some time, the person explained.
A male volunteer, who also requested anonymity, said they mainly need food, but also tarpaulins to protect their huts when the rainy season starts, which will be soon. Over 1,000 people from 200 families live at the camp, including at least 8 disabled people, which was established by the merger of Htee Paula and Htee So.
More than 6,000 IDPs live in 6 camps in the eastern township. In the west, there’s 8 camps.
Since the coup, more than 250,000 people have been displaced by the conflict in Karenni State and Pekon Township in southern Shan State.
