As the battle continued in Hsihseng, located in the southern region of Shan State, the PNLA (Pa-O National Liberation Army) reported that they captured a junta militia member on August 11th.

According to a statement released by the PNLA, the captured militia member had attended a People’s Militia training course under the junta in Shwebo and was then deployed to the Hsihseng battle. It is said that the militia member had been in Hsihseng for less than a month.

On August 10th, junta forces launched an attack east of Hsihseng, resulting in a battle between the two sides. The PNLA statement also mentioned that, in addition to capturing the militia member, they recovered the bodies of three junta soldiers, one MA1 rifle, and a drone.
Since August 6th, junta forces have been shelling and launching offensives in villages within Hsihseng, causing over 3,000 civilians to flee their homes.

“When we fled, some people didn’t even have shoes on. We couldn’t bring any food or water. Since it’s the rainy season now, we’re sheltering in the jungle and urgently need rain protection,” said one displaced man.

The displaced civilians are currently fleeing in the forests within the townships of Saikhaung, Taunggyi, and Hopong. Due to the lack of connection with charity groups, they are in need of food, medicine, and shelter.
