Due to a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal, Karenni State and the entire Shan State are expected to experience rainfall on November 7. Even though there is no severe cause for alarm in Karenni State, meteorologist U Win Naing has advised residents in flood-prone areas to remain alert, as heavy rains could increase the risk of landslides and soil erosion.

“It’s not a serious concern, but in areas that have already experienced heavy rains and flooding, there could be a chance of landslides if more rain occurs. Full relief from these conditions will likely come by the end of November,” U Win Naing explained.

Karenni State, Shan State, and the Ayeyarwady Region are the areas that are expected to experience significant rainfall. Predictions indicate that up to 50 millimeters (nearly 2 inches) of rain may fall within 24 hours on November 7.

This could pose risks not only to unharvested rice fields but also to harvested crops that are not adequately stored under shelter.

The forecast shows that the majority of rainfall is expected in Shan State, with other regions, including Yangon, Bago, Naypyidaw, Magway, Sagaing, Mandalay, Rakhine, Chin, Kachin, and Karenni State, experiencing lighter rain. Rainfall levels in these areas are expected to reach approximately 20 millimeters (0.78 inches).

There will be no major concerns for extensive rain, as noted in U Win Naing’s social media update.
