The arrival of hundreds of new reinforcements has thwarted efforts by resistance forces attempting to take the Military Council’s Light Infantry Battalion 422’s base in Mobye town.

Tar Eh Soe, the information officer of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), stated that after successive attempts, the KNDF and People’s Defence Force have been forced to pull back from the enemy’s position in the town in Pekon Township, after attacking them since early April. Casualties have been reported for both sides during the month-long offensive.

Approximately 200 Burma army soldiers were deployed to the area in southern Shan State in the third week of April, significantly bolstering their defenses. The same soldiers murdered five civilians on their way to Mobye.

Meanwhile, the Burma army has been conducting airstrikes on the resistance groups and shelling them with artillery.
