It has been reported that on the afternoon of July 1, the military junta regained control of Moebye on the Shan-Karenni border.
According to frontline sources, the military junta forces have taken back full control of the area around Moebye’s railway and the Union Highway.
“The enemy side (military forces) has regained control of the other side of the railway area and the entire Union Highway in Moebye,” the source said.
To regain Moebye, the junta had launched intense offensives since November 2024. In addition to ground assaults, they employed airstrikes, heavy artillery, and drones, reportedly using incendiary bombs and chemical weapons, according to revolutionary forces.
As the military junta has now regained control of Moebye, local residents are increasingly concerned for their safety.
“We don’t know if we’ll be able to harvest our crops. The military offensive is closing in. The roads will be closed soon. And now that Moebye has fallen to the military, if the conflict spreads to Saung Kan, plus if they could control that area, we’ll be completely cut off,” said a resident from the eastern part of Phekon.
On June 30, heavy fighting broke out between the invading military forces and local joint revolutionary forces. Therefore, the Southern Shan Karenni Joint Forces announce a warning for civilians to avoid traveling on the main roads in Moebye. By the afternoon of July 1, the revolutionary forces were forced to retreat, allowing the military junta to reassert control over Moebye.
