Demoso, Karenni State — Myanmar military fighter jets carried out airstrikes on three locations in the western part of Demoso Township early this morning, July 14.

The attacks occurred in rapid succession, with the first bomb dropped at 12:55 a.m., followed by strikes at 1:03 a.m. and 1:20 a.m.

“There was no surveillance beforehand. The plane just arrived and dropped the bombs. It circled back and attacked another location. In total, there were three rounds of airstrikes and about five bombs dropped,” said a local woman who witnessed the attack.

At the second site, two buildings were damaged, and a bathroom, toilet, and car were also hit by shrapnel. Two local men, both in their twenties, sustained minor injuries from the blasts.
Residents believe the military used 200-pound bombs in the assault.

“It was terrifying. I was shaking — I’ve never experienced anything like it. When the jets kept coming, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I ran to the bomb shelter nearby. All I could do was pray — that people would survive. I didn’t care about the buildings or belongings. I just wanted everyone to be safe,” said another local woman.

So far in July, the junta has conducted four airstrikes in Karenni State: two in western Demoso, one in the Mawchi area of Pasaung Township, and one in western Pekhon Township along the Shan–Karenni border.

Although no active clashes were reported in these areas, repeated military airstrikes continue to spread fear and anxiety among civilians.
