On September 5, during a military operation at the Shan-Karenni border, around 30 soldiers from the junta’s forces were killed, 3 were captured alive, and a significant amount of weapons and ammunition were seized, according to a statement released by the Loikaw Local People’s Defense Force (Loikaw Local PDF) today, on September 13.
The fighting took place over three consecutive days, from September 5 to September 7, according to a statement from the Loikaw Local PDF’s Information and Communications Officer to Kantarawaddy Times.
“We’ve already sent the captured soldiers to the KNDF (Karenni Nationalities Defense Force) Detention Unit. The junta’s forces were deployed in two or three locations, so their numbers were quite large. About 25 to 30 of their troops were killed. On our side, we lost about four comrades, but none from our Local PDF. Three of our members were wounded, and one of them is in critical condition,” said the officer from the Loikaw Local PDF.
In the operation, forces from the Loikaw Local PDF, Loikaw People’s Defense Force (Loikaw PDF), KNDF, Karenni National People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF), and Shan South-based battalions jointly participated in the attacks.
During the offensive, junta-controlled military bases, police stations, and outposts were targeted. Three members of the Loikaw Local PDF sustained injuries, with one in serious condition.
Additionally, KNDF, KNPLF, and Shan South-based battalions also suffered casualties during the fighting, according to the statement. However, the detailed casualty figures from the resistance groups have not yet been officially released by their respective units.
