After the revolutionary forces captured the military junta’s Htu Chaung camp located between Bawlake and Hparsaung townships in Karenni State, the junta has been reinforcing its troops in the Bawlake area with helicopters, according to a spokesperson from the Bawlake People’s Defense Force (PDF).

“There have been about three or four helicopter trips. They are just at their strategic camp in Bawlake. We are not sure yet where they will send the troops next,” said a Bawlake PDF official.

The Htu Chaung camp was captured on October 12 by the attack of revolutionary forces, including Hparsaung PDF and KA Drone Force.

Following the capture of the camp, the military junta began reinforcing their troops in Bawlake Township.

Bawlake Township hosts several key military camps, including those of Infantry Battalions 430, 337, 429, and a strategic command camp.

Revolutionary forces have successfully captured important military camps in Bawlake District, including Metselaung Camp, Yekyaw Camp, and Htu Chaung Camp.

In Karenni State, the junta’s control area are only left in Loikaw and Bawlake townships. Although some local residents have fled Bawlake, others still continue to live in the town.

Due to the internet and communication blackouts in Bawlake, it has been difficult for Kantarawaddy Times to contact residents who remain in the town.

According to an on-ground reporter from Kantarawaddy Times, supplies are not reaching to Bawlake anymore. Thus, the remaining residents are struggling to meet their basic needs.
