Maw Pray Myar, the second Secretary of Karenni National Women Association (KNWO), says the numbers who are abused human rights are getting higher in Kayah (Karenni) State.
“If we look at the cases authorities committed, it is very hard to get justice although the case is operated under legal process, and today’s court judgement is still like “Money can be fair”. In other words, there are still the abuse of human rights in our Kayah State.” Maw Pray Myar says.
It says there were not any accusation and prisoning to farmers in the reign of 2010 elected government; however, what they see now in the reign of 2015 elected government is there are human rights abuses more than before. Besides, it also says the restriction of government authorities on the implementation of any workshop or forum is also human rights abuse.
U Banyar, the Director of Karenni Human Rights Group (KHRG), says that the actual groups who commit the most on freedom of speech or freedom of assembly are those ruling parties.
“The authorities and ruling parties abused us the most. On the other side, the government…, as I mentioned before, the government’s protection is totally weak. Seeing without saying anything is like we are encouraging the authorities to abusing human rights.” U Banyar says.
In Kayah State, 41 farmers are persecuted, and 12 of them are prisoned for not having any guarantee. The local organizations have criticized on that case that the farmers are being abused appallingly.
