Former Prime Minister U Bu Reh Khin Maung Oo will Contest for the Kayah State Democratic Party

The Kayah State Democratic Party (KySDP) has announced that former State Chief Minister Bu Reh Khin Maung Oo will contest in the 2020 general election in Constituency No. 2 in Loikaw Township.

U Bu Reh Khin Maung Oo was the Chief Minister of Kayah State from the USDP in 2010-15.

“So, in the past, he contested in USDP. Although the USDP led the government, he is now willing to intervene in some areas related to state affairs and ethnic issues. He has that goodwill. If he wants to work for the development and peace of the state, we will vote him,” the General Secretary of KySDP, U Teh Reh, replied at a press conference on 5.8.2020.

KySDP Chairman, U Pho Reh, told at press conference that during the governance period of U Bu Khin Maung Oo, peace talks and negotiation were held with local ethnic armed groups.

“The former prime minister is a key person especially in peace process which he played as an insider both at the national and state level peace talks with the KNPP in Kayah State, he said.

The KySDP, an ethnic party based in Kayah State, will join with the Kayan National Party and contest in the 2020 election.
The two joint parties will contest 34 parliament seats.
