Some Kayah Govt Officials Will Be Charged for Committing to Illegal Gathering

The Kayah State Prime Minister U L Poung Sho committed to take legal actions on some of government officials from Mae Seh township for committing of illegal gathering during the gatherings ban in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Myanmar.

“We will take legal action to those perpetrators in accordance with the released policies.” said Prime Minister to to Kantarawaddy Times on April 17th.

It said the Township Natural Disaster Management Committee appealed on 14th April 2020 for the case of people gatherings and celebrating group party including singing and dancing within the yard of Ministry of Mese Township Fire Service Department on Thingyan A Kya Nei (called in Myanmar) during this present banned period.

Mese Township Administrator U Hla Myo Tun said there is case to take this legal action to department staffs for gathering.
He said, “We are appealing for taking legal action to department staffs. Either the General Administration staff, Fire Service staff, or any department staff committed it, those perpetrators will have to face legal action.”

Regarding their disobedience upon the government press release, the Prime Minister U L Poung Sho said, “They made big mistake because they didn’t obey the union government’s press release. We already prepared for taking legal action. Everyone will be in trouble if we take legal action deeply since they are government staffs. There were not many people joined, but there are about 15-20 perpetrators; together with fire service staffs.”

According to the press release, it said the Township Law Officer U Aung Phyo Kyaw, Township Fire Service Director U Phyo Myat Thu, Police Deputy Sergeants Nyein Ko Ko and Zay Yar Myat Aye, and the Mail Deliverer of Township Administration Department Khoon Poe Hla Pyit were celebrating with songs and playing water together in the yard of Township Fire Service Department at 2:30PM, 14th April 2020.
