Any travelers without compulsion are restricted to travel Thai border

The General Secretary of Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) U Shwe Myo Thant said they will restrict any travelers who pass through the gates of Thai-Kayah(Karenni) without any crucial intention.

“We do not allow the passengers without any necessity to pass the gate. We have border travel gates. We’re doing restriction upon it.”, said U Shwe Myo Thant.

It said they will control the travelers who travel from/to KNPP Liaison Office and two border gates, BP-9 gate and Refugee camp gate. KNPP released their statement on March 17 that they will restrict the travelling in border gates in order to prevent the infection of COVID-19 coronavirus to the whole nation of Karenni people living in Karenni (Kayah) State, Thai-Karenni (Kayah) border, and Karenni refugee camp.

In the statement, it said everyone except the travelers who have life-or-death emergencies or duty is restricted to pass the border gates by the date of statement released.

It announced that the persons who are now staying in Karenni refugee camp and Thai-Karenni (Kayah) border have to return to their homeplace by March 31, 2020.

Besides, they will also restrict the buses which giving service from border to Karenni (Kayah) State during April 1, 2020 to April 30, 2020.

They also request the passengers, who are necessary to travel, to access cooperatively the basic medical check organizing by Karenni health team.
“We are not at the state of having technology to check the virus yet. But, we basically could do the temperature check.”, U Shwe Myo Thant said.

According to the data updated on 17 March 2020, COVID-19 Coronavirus is affecting 137 countries, and the death toll is (172158) persons infected and (6652) persons dead.
